electricpy.zener_diode_power(Vin, Vo, R)[source]

Zener diode power loss function.

A zener diode is uses to allow current to flow “backwards” when the zener voltage is reached. This function use to calculate the power in resistor following below formula:

\[P_R = \frac{(V_{out} - V_{in(max)})^2}{R}\]

  • Vin (float) – Maximum input Voltage in Volt

  • Vo (float) – Output Voltage in Volt

  • R (float) – Load Resistance in Ohm

Returns:

P – Power on resistance in Watt
